What is a good way to extract the audio from a video game? I saw what a fantastic job MetalBoss did on the Agent 47 board and I might start doing a Carl 'C.J.' Johnson (Grand theft auto: San Andreas) soundboard soon.

you might just run recording software while the game is going -- just set your sound card to record 'what you hear' or 'stereo master' or whatever it is that means 'the sounds on your sound card' instead of the mic or line input

another way would be to download Fraps (free I think) -- game recording software -- and set the video frame rate and quality as low as possible because all you want is the audio - then when you're done recording, use VirtualDub (free) to open up the AVI Fraps made and export a WAV file, then open the WAV up with whatever recording software you use and turn it into an MP3 and start cutting it up

there may also be a way to hack your game (if it uses discs - I don't have a PS3 or anything) -- and get all the game audio -- if you look around you might even find that someone else has already done it, although I don't know why anyone would unless they were making a soundboard or something

wegame is generally better than fraps so try that (totally free).
Don't bother with carl johnson, worst gta character ever lol.
Would still love to know how to get audio off my ps2 games but nobody understands the file formats and i can't emulate even with my hardware. Oh well, guess that's just a ton of crispin freeman audio i can't get at
