this happened to me a lot with Audition; the player needle gets messed up and out-of-alignment with the music
usually repairing Audition by reinstalling it helps. But this time nothing helped. what do I do? This ever happen to you?

its probably a option I messed up or something rolleyes

the only time it's EVER happened to me was ever since I bought this new external sound card ($60 piece of fucking junk)

Creative X-Fi...

now the only way I can multitrack (overdub) is by running the pc's audio through my mixing board, and run it back through the line input (muted for no feedback), and record what I'm doing mixed in with what I already did

otherwise I have to cut pieces out of the audio so it will line up if I want to edit stuff together using multitrack view - it's a real pain in the ass -- I'm just gonna get an internal sound card again... I had no idea the external one would require processing time before it did anything - and we're talking noticeable amounts of time - - plus it drops audio now and then, you can hear this on the last few of our calls -- before halloween even

fuckin sucks - so I know how you feel man

but without the external soundcard it's never done that to me -- used to do it to deek on his old PC but probably because he didn't have enough RAM

I used to have a problem with audition where it would randomly restart my computer when I was using it. Also the main window would shift around the mouse weirdly. When I looked it up, I was recommended to uninstall microsoft intellipoint and bonjour (often bundled with Itunes). It worked flawlessly after I did that.

I'm not sure whether you're having  the same problem though, or if you even have either of those two programs installed.

noooo!  sad I was hoping you'd have a fast fix like last time.   smiley

I have an internal sound card. It started happening after I began working with an extra-long clip, a whole movie file. Or it also could be (Im only guessing) that today I just downloaded this crap video codec that I found out afterward was crap and illegal and probably did some dumb shit to my computer. I uninstalled it maybe it could have damaged something? I have no idea

where did you search for that information colonel?

i've had absolutely no problems related to sound or codecs since i got this new motherboard with realtek integrated sound.
The only problem is the realtek ethernet lan driver thing sometimes fucks up on windows seven, to get around this problem you only have to uninstall the driver in device manager and then click scan for hardware changes for it to reinstall and bingo.

Since you're having some codec related issue (solved?) it's best to remove all codecs and fix registry issues using something like ccleaner.
Afterwards you can get a decent codec pack that uses ffdshow like k-lite mega codec pack or get the x64 codec pack.

I've tried many codec packs and i make sure that my media players are not allowed to ever download additional codecs, using your media player as a medium viruses can wreak havoc with your system and will likely attempt to prevent you from playing any kind of media.
