as the economy disintegrates before our eyes, I keep hearing financial analysts telling us not to worry - pension plans are insured and therefore secure no matter how much the market may fluctuate

question: how many people were even aware that they're pensions were capable of evaporating? I've always been under the impression that your pension was rock solid - you work for 30 years and that's that - you've got a pension until you die - now it seems like when corporations aren't literally stealing the pension funds, the pensions are tied up in the economy, so if the economy tanks so do pensions - I think a lot of older folks are probably terrified about all of these old school businesses and banks in trouble and going bankrupt
