please do not discuss where you're from on these forums - if you've posted calls on jackulator.com, and we find out that you're from a place that requires all-party consent to record phone calls, you will not be allowed to post any calls you've done, and any you have already posted will be removed from the site

it is up to you to research the matter for yourself and not post illegally recorded calls

I'm not sure how reliable this site is, but here is a link you may find helpful for researching the matter:

America is such a funny country, each state has many different laws, and some of them are pretty laughable (it's illegal to hang a bed outside of a window, forgotten the state), it would be so much simpler for them to just have a national law system.

yeah - simpler for people in the US who want to make prank phone calls to various states - but our constitution gives very limited power to the federal government - they can make roads and stuff, but anything not specifically provided for in the constitution is up to each state to govern

Lt. Drebin: (at press conference) Protecting the safety of the queen is a task gladly accepted by Police Squad. For no matter how silly the idea of having a queen may be to us, as Americans we must be gracious and considerate hosts.

here's a link to a list of shit the federal government of the US is legally allowed to do preside over:

http://publicwebcom.wikidot.com/federal-powers-enumerated

even though the legislature in this country frequently oversteps its bounds...

During segregation 'states rights' were used as an excuse to not follow de-segregation laws.
So during that period states rights have diminished.

interesting - I didn't know that

I've heard that these days the federal government legislates many things that it is not constitutionally granted power to control - but that's really the extent of my knowledge on the subject unfortunately - lazy history student

yeah - you can thank the lobby groups for that - how ironic it is that republicans always preach 'small government', but they're so conservative on private issues that they create a shitload of government agencies to police public things that don't float in a country club setting

the only real quibble i have with this documentary is how they grossly oversimplify 9/11 - other than that its filled with tons of great information

Allot of this is like conspiracy theories.  These people express concern, and they say allot about the elite conspiring to control everyone without much evidence.  It is mostly just their take on the events of the world.

The funny thing is that you could take the complete opposite view and also support it with a bunch of statistics and academics stating their opinions in a way that sounds impressive.

I don't agree "a global currency is right around the corner" and allot of other things in the film.

I don't agree "a global currency is right around the corner" and allot of other things in the film.

about the global currency thing, the problem with a lot of these people is that they get so mired down in details examining all of the evidence and drawing conclusions based on them, that in trying to impart to others the desperation of the situation they get a little overzealous with their timelines

but you should think about all of the crap that's been piled onto the notion of 'conspiracy'

here's the definition of 'conspire':

"To plan or plot secretly."

it comes from Latin, and literally means 'to breathe together'

and yet, when you look the definition of 'conspiracy', you get a different sense:

"An agreement to perform together an illegal, wrongful, or subversive act."

When I think of the word conspiracy, I think it just means simply that people are meeting behind closed doors to discuss courses of actions that affect the lives of others

any time you talk about how something should be handled, and you don't share your plans with the people whose lives will be affected by your decision - THAT is a conspiracy

but somehow most of us feel like 'bah - that's just paranoid bullshit' when we hear the word...

hmm... if what these supposed paranoiacs are espousing is even partly true, it's no small wonder many of us have this type of reaction to the phrase 'conspiracy theory'

state government should have all the power in my opinion, i love the constitution and how america was originally intended to be... its just a shame it has been torn to shreds by power hungry corporate shills

Thanks for the video man.

I think when the Kennedy's were assassinated, that was pretty much the end of hope for our country. Then idealism dies a quiet death when you examine US foreign policy and the actions of the CIA in South and Central America since the 50s, various covert actions taken during the Cold War, and our dealings with the Middle East since then. This country has always been full of shit. There has never been democracy here for anyone other than the rich. Sure, a normal guy gets a fair shake now and again, but only if giving him a fair shake doesn't get too much in the way of making sure guys like Rockefeller get what they want. The rich in this country are the only ones who consistently benefit from our legal system. Their will is the only one represented by the Senators and Congressmen, but it's the poor who fight and die in all of the wars. Same old story.

There are times when elected officials and business leaders meet behind closed doors and make big decisions.  To some extent, it has to be that way, unless everyone in the world is expected to vote on every decision made.  However, I don't think they are coming up with a detailed plan to take over the world.

just a thought - did you ever see the movie 'Cube'?

it's a horror flick about a cube/death puzzle you have to navigate/survive

at one point, one of the people trapped inside reveals to the others that he helped build the cube, and they get all pissed at him, but he explains that he was just working on a small part of an enormous project - he had no idea what it was, and to his knowledge, no one was actually controlling the project

it could be that the sum total of all the greedy self-serving actions taken by everyone in the world has the end result of putting the world on the course it's on now - if this is the case, it needn't be necessary for individuals to understand the whole process or take steps to bring about one specific result or another on a grand scale

I didn't see that movie.  It sounds like it is based on an intriguing idea.

We live in interesting times.  But then again at any time in history there were wars, animosity between the rich and poor, people in power making bad decisions, etc.

the cube sounds like it could be figuratively applied to an entire host of things pertaining to our government and how they use us as fodder for their own gains. the rabbit hole of lies and corruption goes down several thousand lightyears with these people.

I watched Bill Maher's Friday, October 19th episode today and was disappointed at the way he behaved when members of his audience several times interrupted the discussion taking place on the panel

at first what they were shouting was indistinguishable, but after the second or third shout Bill said "Don't we have any fucking security in this building?" or something and as security moved in to escort the guy out Bill was already out of his chair and up in the audience helping shove the guy out. After he went back to his seat he was interrupted several more times, and finally you could hear a little more of what the people were yelling

apparently there is a group of people protesting Bill Maher for his stance on the 911 truth movement - people who believe to one degree or another the US government is involved in covering up 'what really happened' on 9-11-01

I guess Bill has been less than kind in his dismissal of everyone that doesn't completely agree that the official story, but somehow some of them made it on his show

as far as I'm concerned, given that he's so skeptical and willing to say a lot of shit other people wouldn't dare to say on tv, I'm still on the fence about 911 because I think there's more than enough evidence to warrant at least a degree of skepticism - so given that, I find it a little dubious that he would be so aggressive in his view that the 'truthers' are insane

as far as the audience goes - so what if a few people in the crowd felt so strongly that something needed to be discussed that they violated the precious rule of 'you're the audience member - not the talent - just sit there and laugh otherwise shut the fuck up'

given his violent reaction to these people, I wonder if maybe Bill would prefer this type of audience:

or maybe he's just a megalomaniacal brat that he can't stand anyone interrupting things

how fucking elitist do you have to be to assume the only people who have any valid viewpoints are the people booked to speak on your show?

or maybe he's just a scared little talk show host who is scared his show will get out of control if he lets people talk on his show

either way, I try not to let the political viewpoints of comedians affect me, and I usually enjoy his show and his humor, but I just found this latest display to smack a little too much of fascism.

Well It's not exactly an open forum for the audience to speak their opinions, who cares how bill maher feels about 9/11, they were still interrupting and being rude. I didn't think he took that heckling particularly bad.

seriously though - what I was trying to say was that if Bill didn't think so little of the truthers he wouldn't have reacted to the 'hecklers' the way he did

Well Bill Maher is a comedian first and foremost IMO, it's probably instinctive to lash out like that at people who interrupt him. So when I said he handled it well, I meant, compared to some comedians I'd say he handled it well.
