the Deep Web

can anyone explain more about it than the wikipedia page does?

is it like the stuff that's on this site that isn't available to people without an account, or without a certain amount of posts?

I heard about it in an episode of House of Cards, so I got curious

just another hip phrase for nothing. seem to me it's just websites not indexed and/or indexable by search engines. the wiki article makes it pretty clear imo

if i could create a more fitting definition of the phrase, i'd describe "deep web" as all traffic that is not plainly visible and/or accessible by the regular user. but that includes much more than websites. that'd include communications, file transfers, game data transfer and a lot more application specific traffic.. tunnelled traffic.. encrypted traffic..

hell, by their definition, i'll switch my web server port from 80 to 1234, wont give it a DNS name, and tada, i would have a "deep web" site

idk.. it should be named differently. why not simply "unindexed web"? the name "deep web" suggests something much, much else
