"Twenty pushups a day..."

woke up today, a little hung over since roy didn't leave until 5am last night... got up around 1, took a nice ride around town and soaked up some sun, got myself a big n' toasty from dunkin on my way home, fought off the urge to lie down after eating and commenced to farting around with the old Zoom R16 and LMMS. and here's the result of my labor:

SLOPNUT (just trying to figure out how to make my guitars/mix sound more like Slipknot's 'Psychosocial' because I love that tone):

on Slopnut it's basically just a bunch of parts I came up with to the same drum beat, so it's disjointed and there's parts where there's not much happening but drums

ELROY (rather than start the song off with guitars first I figured I'd go with bass this time):

anyways, enjoy   smiley

[EDIT] decided to make better use of the last few hours before I had to go to bed than my usual watching of the netflix -- did another one where I started with bass first after making the drum tracks

this one's called 'Shit Gets Done':

My favorite is shit gets done. Downright awesome.  cool Apt title  grin the drums are sort of syncopated in a cool way

I agree with Hairy, too.

I know what you mean about the drums being syncopated -- it's because the timing of the song is 6/4 instead of 4/4

I LOVE the 6/4 timing. instead of going one-two-three-four each time you go one-two-three-four-five-six

it creates room for all sorts of syncopation. I love syncopation. that's why I love reggae and funk. lots of backbeat action -- meaning clicks in between clicks. the type of stuff you'd do on a conga drum

that's why John Scofield is one of my favorite lead guitarists -- he plays around in that area I enjoy -- the in-between-beats area:

listen in around 2:19  smiley

it's like he's fortifying the strongest rhythm aspects of the song by what he plays in all those off-time notes -- lovely.  really...
