1. before you remove the spam topic, right-click their username and open it up in a new window
2. right-click the admin link and open it in a new window, put in your password and submit -- to make sure you're logged in
3. go back to the profile window for the username you opened up in step 1 and do the following:
1. click 'Ban This User'
2. in the next window, down where it says 'Triggers', check each box
3. click the 'Add' button
that's it. then you just go back to the forum where the spam was and remove it
